Cayenne pepper, considered a superfood, may help ease symptoms of the common cold. Cayenne is rich in immune-boosting vitamins A and C (1 tsp. of dried cayenne powder meets nearly one-third of our daily vitamin A needs), and researchers have found that its high content of capsaicin may help relieve nasal congestion and cough. The next time you are sick, try adding a sprinkle of cayenne pepper to a cup of warm tea, lemon water or a fruit smoothie for added relief.
Did you know?
Spicy Cayenne pepper may help you lose weight. A few studies suggest that the active compounds in cayenne peppers - including both the spicy capsaicin and non pungent capsiate - may help you boost your metabolism, burn more calories and fat, and even suppress the accumulation of body fat, particularly in your waistline. Cayenne also appears to act as a natural appetite suppressant that may help you eat less - and ultimately - weigh less.
