My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person; he believed in me. - Jim Valvano
Dad, I may not be the best, but I come to believe that I got it in me to be somebody in this world. And it’s not because I’m so different from you either. It’s because I’m the same. I mean, I can be just as hard-headed, and just as tough. I only hope I can be as good a man as you. ~Jake Gyllenhaal

“Any man can be a Father but it takes someone special to be a dad.” — Anne Geddes
“Life was a lot simpler when what we honored was father and mother rather than all major credit cards.” — Robert Orben
By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong. ” -Charles Wadsworth
I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection. – Sigmund Freud
Father’s Day comes once a year and it is right to take time out to appreciate and celebrate because if it weren’t for some random guy named Dad, you wouldn’t be here!
A good father is one who cares enough to get to work to feed us or pay for our education – and most of the times give us everything we want even when we don’t necessarily need it, no excuses. And with every celebration, it is only right to bring a gift. Your Father will certainly appreciate receiving a small token of your affection. But what is the best father’s day gift? What can we give a man who gave us everything? Should we get him something useful? After all, men love things that are useful like a tool or a gadget. Or can we just send him a father’s day poem via mail?
Yes those can be great gifts, but the most important father’s day gift is you; your attention. Trust me when I say that every father thinks the same. Their children are the best gifts ever and in this fast paced world, where everybody is just too busy, making memories with him would top any other great and extravagant things you can give. So give your full attention to your father this Father’s day. Here are a few suggestions to spend the day with him.
For athletic strong fathers – For athletic dads, they love to get moving. So why don’t you go hiking with him or your whole family. And how about participating in a 5k or 10k walk? Or setup a basketball game with family and his friends (with this you can setup a bigger Father’s day celebration with the help of the children of your Father’s friend) and cheer for him at the top of your lungs. You can also make banners that say “My Father My Hero” or “You’re the best dad”. He will appreciate the thought, and will enjoy the time together more than the exercise itself.
Father Coupons – Creating coupons always comes in handy whatever its purpose is. So create a Father’s day coupon book with 10-15 coupons he can use. These coupon can include giving him a pass at his most hated chores, washing and waxing his car, taking him to dinner, taking him to a sports event, going to a picnic, massage, a kiss etc. The list is endless and the activities are fun.
For movie lovers – Father’s love watching movies, especially action ones. Get out to the cinema or simply hang out at home to watch old or new favourites. Alternatively, you can also plan to make him a Father’s day movie about how important he is (you can include funny memories or father’s day quote) or pick his favorite song and make a music video out of it. Beforehand, prepare scripts, costumes, props and more importantly, allies (families and friends) that will be the actors and actresses. Get your act together and show it to him on Father’s day while hanging out with the whole family. Popcorn is optional but would be a great addition.
Play games – You might think that Fathers, being older than you, would not appreciate games. The truth is, they want to experience being young again and just play. So get his favorite board games out, or maybe create your own games and sit down with the whole family on Father’s day. Prepare some treats and prize bags for the winners and share some quality family values.
Dining out –Dining out might be a common way to celebrate any occasions, but it is still effective. If you want to make it more special, just add a little spice to the traditional dining out. Like dining out on the most expensive restaurant on the block. Or letting the waiters sing your Father’s favorite song while you are eating. With a little planning, you can give dining out a memorable experience. The other option is to cook up his favourite meal, or plan a barbecue but be sure to have dad sit back and enjoy the company and not have to be the cook.
Remember that we owe our life to our parents and it is just right to honor them on their special day like Father’s day. Promise us that this year, you won’t choose to give those old ordinary gifts for Father’s day like neckties, pens or tools. Instead, give the most important Father’s day gift – You.
Any material things you will give your father can perish or be broken, but the time you will spend with him and the memories you will create will forever be in his heart. - Last but not the least; don’t forget to say thank you and I love you.
